Undeniable Reasons Why Your Business Needs a Blog

You might be thinking, “I don’t know anything about blogging,” or maybe you already have a blog but it’s not generating much traffic, so you’ve decided it’s a waste of time.

Or maybe you think a blog isn’t relevant to your industry — or isn’t useful for building trust and authority. If so, think again.

Here’s an Example of How Blogs Can Benefit Any Business

My neighbor was having some plumbing problems recently, so he went online and searched for a plumber.

He clicked on the first several links and reviewed the sites. He found one plumber who was writing blog posts about diagnosing and solving common plumbing problems.

He chose that plumber to call since it sounded like the plumber:

  • Knew what he was talking about (demonstrating authority)
  • Was willing to share some of his knowledge for free (gaining customer trust)

Having an informative blog with interesting, fresh content can do wonders for demonstrating your knowledge/authority and building trust.

There Are Several Ways a Blog Can Benefit Your Business

Improve Search Rankings

This alone should be reason enough to start a blog for your business. Having a blog won’t guarantee a top search ranking for your keyword, but it will certainly help.

Blogs are filled with fresh, unique content with a high percentage of returning visits (usually), which often results in strong search rankings. W

Whether your blog is standalone or attached as a subdomain to your existing business website (e.g. blog.yourbusinesssite.com), you can rest assured knowing it will yield valuable SEO juice.

New Medium to Communicate with Customers

Blogs are more than just portals to create and publish content. They allow business owners to connect with their customers and target audience.

If someone has a question about a particular product or service offered by your business, they may ask a question on your blog.

Rather than answering the same question a dozen different times through email, you post the answer once on your blog, at which point other users can find the answer by reading it here.

Show Your Authority

As in the plumber example above, businesses can use blogs to show their authority and leadership in their respective niche/industry.

Consumers are often hesitant to purchase products or services from businesses they’ve never heard of before, and for a good reason: there are so many companies out there who are eager to take your money without delivering what they promise.

By blogging on a regular basis, you can show consumers that you are knowledgeable in your field of work.

Showcase New Products or Services

Did you recently add a new product or service to your business’s lineup? You can’t expect people to buy it unless they know about it.

Thankfully, you can spread the word about new products via your blog. Once your blog has developed a strong following, you can post information about new products or services that your business has recently added.

Social Media Power

Because blogs usually contain relevant, newsworthy content, they tend to receive more Facebook “likes” and social shares than other content.

You can use this to your advantage by encouraging visitors to share your blog’s content on their social media accounts.
