Digital Marketing Trends For 2019

2018 is coming to a close, and naturally we are all in a period of reflection; contemplating our past year as well as what to expect and hope to accomplish in the coming year. At Content First Marketing, we’ve been looking at the latest digital marketing innovations and assessing the trends that we think will be breakthrough stars in 2019.

Every year there are tons of fresh new ideas for taking marketing to the next level. But we like to look for a balance between exciting, innovative, and practical. Read about the four key digital marketing trends we predict will transform your digital platforms in 2019.

Four Key Digital Marketing Trends to Consider

1. Social media platforms are evolving

For a long time, Facebook was the go-to for any digital marketing campaign. And generally marketing teams didn’t have to consider their audiences because just about everyone was on Facebook.

However, Facebook has had a pretty rough year with data breaches that consequently left many users reevaluating their connection to this platform.

While Facebook is still popular and the #1 platform in the U.S., it is more popular with the senior demographic. So, if your campaign is targeting younger audiences, you’ll want to look to Instagram or Twitter to reach them.

2. Increased client-customer communication

Like we said in point one, many users have a complicated relationship with social media now and trusting the platforms as well as brands.

In order to accommodate your audience, you need to make sure that your lanes of communication are wide open and set up consistent messaging across social media platforms. You’ll not only increase confidence in your brand, but you’ll also give your followers an easier outlet to get in touch with you.

3. Voice interaction is on the rise

Smart devices like Siri, Alexa, and Google have consistently grown in popularity and offer consumers a unique method of searching for information.

In fact, Comscore predicts that by 2020 half of all searches will be voice searches.

Traditionally, when a person searches for something online, they get pages of options and landing on the first page was always the goal.

Now, with voice searches consumers are given a few choices, if not just one. In order to stay relevant and visible, your company will need to prepare for voice searches. This could be as simple as rewriting meta-descriptions of websites that sound better when spoken out loud rather than read on a screen.

4. Balancing privacy and personalization

After the year consumers have had, you can bet that many will not be willing to offer up their data. Data privacy is a buzzword more than ever before and businesses must respond accordingly.

Cultivating relationships built on trust will be essential. And one step of doing so will be through asking for and collecting the appropriate amount of data. We’re sure that consumers will be challenging brands to keep up with this in 2019 and beyond.
