Coming up with exciting, new content for your site every week can be a challenge. You may find yourself depleted of ideas and ultimately hitting a “content roadblock.”

Both search engines and site visitors love new content! From a search engine perspective, it boosts rankings and drives site traffic.

For the visitor, they view your site as an up-to-date, valuable source of information. You certainly don’t want to slack on either front.

To keep your site fresh, here are five unique ways to generate new content, while pleasing visitors and search engines, alike.

1. Check Out Forums

For nearly every niche and industry, there is a forum, where users ask and answer questions, all about a particular topic.

Simply go to Google and search for “‘your industry’ + forum”– you’d be surprised the amount of information and coverage even the most obscure topics can produce.

Reading questions and posts from other users can spur a whole collection of new content ideas for your site– just be sure to put in the effort to research and cross-reference new material, so your audience is receiving the more reliable information.

2. Create an FAQ Page

An FAQ page can be especially useful if your product or service is highly specialized or niche. Think of particular questions, which may seem “obvious” to you, but are essential for a first-time visitor to your site.

Go through your email and look at questions from client or prospects; if the same questions pops up multiple times, include it on your FAQ. You can always update and fill in additional gaps down the road, as necessary

3. Browse Similar Sites

Have a look at what other people in your industry are saying. You’re probably familiar with websites similar to yours, so have a look at their blog and web content.

Certainly, it’s not okay to copy anyone’s content, but you may be able to find a new angle or inspiration. Another great resource is Technorati, where you can browse lists of websites based on category and topic.

4. Encourage User Engagement

Your audience may be your most untapped content resource. Host a contest or incentive for user engagement.

For example, if your business is about yoga and meditation, encourage your audience to share images of their favorite yoga posture, for the chance to win a small prize.

Even the tiniest bit of incentive can motivate your audience to get involved and excited about your brand. In return, you can use their photos/videos as fresh content for your site!

5. Share Interviews

Why not offer a new perspective on your industry, by interviewing a colleague or industry expert? In exchange for their time, you can include a backlink to their site.

Interviews are excellent content for blogs and add a remarkable dose of credibility to your brand and business. At the same time, you’ll strengthen your network and industry connections.
