stronger content marketing strategy

Last week, we talked about how digital marketing can transform your small business.

This week, we would like to focus on the fact that your prospective customers are always online. And you can spend countless hours building backlinks and promoting your website, but unless it contains high-quality content that’s relevant to your target audience, it’s not going to help.

Unfortunately, many webmasters make the mistake of taking a linear approach to their website’s content, writing generic articles that yield minimal engagement.

By thinking outside the box, however, you can develop a stronger content marketing strategy that achieves greater results.

Embed YouTube Videos

If a photo is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million. Even if you have little experience recording videos, you can always publish an existing video to your website.

Just head over to YouTube.com, find a relevant video that’s related to your website’s niche, and click Share > Embed > and grab the embed code.

You can then paste this code into your website’s HTML to display the video with full playback controls. This is a simple and effective way to diversify your website’s content with video.

You can even go one step further by adding your own commentary to the video.

Frequently Asked Questions

Another alternative content idea for your website is a frequently asked questions page. Regardless of your site’s niche, chances are you can craft some relevant questions into an FAQ.

If you need help sourcing these questions, check your email to see what visitors have asked recently. You can include these questions on your FAQ page, proving thoughtful and constructive answers.

News Stories

If you aren’t using Google News to uncover new content ideas, you are missing out on one of the best tools at your disposal.

Just search for a keyword related to your site’s niche, and it will reveal relevant news articles. Using these articles, you can create your own newsworthy content to publish on your site.

User-Submitted Photos

Have you thought about allowing visitors to submit their own photos and publishing those photos on your website?

If you run an e-commerce site that sells aftermarket car parts, for instance, you could ask visitors to submit photos of their cars. And at the end of the month, you can choose a winner to award with a gift.

For the cost of a small gift, this can attract tons of photos — photos that can be uploaded to your website. Search engines will index these photos, driving even more traffic to your website.

It’s a win-win scenario for everyone involved.

Infographics

Because 90% of the information processed in the brain is visual, infographics are a particularly effective form of web-based content.

An infographic is a visual representation or design of facts, figures, statistics and other information. Rather than conveying this information in the form of text, you can create an eye-catching infographic.

Numerous studies have shown that infographics receive more shares, Facebook likes, comments and other engagement signals than traditional text-based articles.
